I AM COMING to SAVANNAH. I just booked my flight.

I am seeing the Laika people coming April 14-15, I am going to show them how serious I am(!!), give them my resume / reel, and I am while I'm at it see everyone still at SCAD / in Savannah that I miss

I don't know people's class / job schedules so I am putting up my times so anyone who is available at these times if possible to give me a ride...?

I've been busy making stuff! :D Cause the few people who actually read this probably know already haha, as I post stuff like that over at my Deviant art page or on my Etsy store already.

And a sculpture commission, and a cute plush commission after I get back from Duckie's (the woman can down pay me after April 2) which are BOTH bat anthro characters - what are the odds of THAT? XD (both e-mailed me on he same day!)

Speaking of which ZOMG I leave in a week! X3 I can't wait! ;3;

And I'm sick of my messy room and this pile of random junk outside it...I so need to move that stuff somewhere.... :U

Katsucon Report! :D

- Katsucon takes place in a large Hyatt hotel, which was not large enough for the 6000 Otaku inside sadly XD It was hard for cosplayers who wanted to stop to talk, take pictures, etc cause there were few places where you were allowed to STOP without con staff urging you to 'keep moving' 'not block traffic' and junk. They had two spots set up for photos, which was nice, one of which had a freaky annoying railing in the way XD and the lighting was less than desirable.

- I didn't attend any events except for the AMV contest which was weird for me. (We did not make it to the masquerade which was impossible practically to get into. Also there was a shoot midway during when it was then we went to a nice dinner out. I hope to youtube what we missed! :3 ) I am sad I missed some of the panels as some looked kinda cool - not that panels are my thing anyway. I guess since I didn't get out of the room in costume on Sat until 1 (before that I walked out fora bit to get food with Charity but I wasn't in costume) and did not get to run around on Friday until 2 pm I felt I missed a lot of cosplay time so I spent my time running around with friends. I really didn't have a lot of time to look at the schedule XD Also since it was my first Katsu was a overwhelmed by just figuiring out where eveything WAS (the layout was all up and down the many escalator levels).

- We made it to 3 of the 4 Naruto shoots was cool. the shoots were fun we did crack poses and didn't have to stand too long at a time. At the Sunday shoot I was in my suit I worse the night before for formal-Shino but did it as formal Shibi, and there were no other Team 8 people available by the time they were doing team shots so it was just ME with two Kuernai (team 8's female captain). I was PIMPIN. It was hilarious. At the other shoots I got to scare Kiba's and people with threats of 'bugs in your pants' and 'fleas' and Kiba threatened to have Akamaru pee on my sandals.

- I got to see lots of SCAD kids! <3 And a bunch of cosplayers I knew including some cosplayer friends! The cute little Hinata with the Byakugan eyes from AnimeNext was there, 'I'm bringing Sexy back" Duke Devlin (Ootogi) was there, And some other people I'd seen before.

- Was a new cosplay - Orochimaru! Made by Neko as a gift and I wore it for Kelly cause it's her favorite character <3 I had a lot of fun as him and I think I looked really spiffy in it. I just hoped I did him justice, and Kelly seemed to think so, and since she is the Orochimaru aficionado I'll just take that as a yes! :3

- Saw some amazing cosplays of NiGHTS (new one) with all the embroidery on the legs/sleeves ACTUALLY EMBROIDERED, Bakura in the most PERFCET sweater normal version I've ever seen, Digimon X movie dragon fursuit, Sage mode Naruto and Jiraiya, Earthworm Jim, and Carmen Sandeigo hanging with a Where's Waldo, a really good Joker, a great Kazekage Garra, a huge General Grievous, Pretty Sammy and her arch rival, and a Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible sing along blog! :D

- Generally just had fun walking around with Kat / Charity and Kelly/Neko. :D Saw lots of cool stuff together.

- The elevators SUCK. :U

- We didn't get into the Ball, as the room they held it in was hundreds of people too small for the size of the con trying to get into it, but it was cool walking around all gussied up in formal wear and having everyone else around wearing nice outfits too with flowers and candy. Me, Charity and Kelly all in our finest sat down at a free table for a midnight jade tea set tea party with Ne-san in the middle of the con. It was cool to see all the characters in formal variants. I even saw a Gir in a TUX, LOL. I handed out Aburame valentines and got a heart lollipop and a rose (weighted for throwing! :D ) from a Tuxedo mask!

- I was formal Shino for Valentines Saturday night, and wore it again Sunday but did formal Shibi (which was just different sunglasses plus gourd and facepaint XD ) for the fact it was easy to do and didn’t require me to change for when we were rushing to pack/drive home (I drove home IN the suit and face paint XD LOL) .

- Charity, Kat and I went to the AMV contest, which had a lot of great AMV's and other meh ones. The best was the last one, "Dragonball Z the Silent Movie" it was SO funny please Youtube it now. There was a cool dance Princess tutu one and an AMAZIN Mushi-shi one I need to download NOW. I think mine definitely should have been in it, but I am over it now. X3 I was sad about the no overflows! T_T Better luck next time!

- I sold 2 of my pics in the art auction and Kelly bought a third right off me. I made $92 total off all that minus commission fees! YAY! (paid for my share of the room, gas, parking, and food! :3 )

- Got lots of good video that within a week will be made into yet another epic con video

My AMV did not make it to finals at Katsucon. T___T

It was my "To be By your side" Digimon AMV. I consider it one of my best ever made, easily in my top three. I really thought it had a chance....it's was an unusual anime choice (They like to pic out both popular and also unusual anime choices to keep it fresh), it was so well timed and thought out, all done in HIGH resolution with japanese raws, had some snazzy effects, and was really heartfelt. I worked so hard to get it done by the deadline, I was working on it for a week straight to the sacrifice of all else.... and it was definitely just as good as the kind of things I see at finals at cons, if not better than some.

I guess the competition again was too strong.... or they didn't like it...or something *Sob* .... ;3;

On top of that they just told us there would be NO OVERFLOW (so the only amv's shown at the con will be the 35 in the contest). This makes me mad cause ALL cons have overflow, they said:

"The AMV staff was made aware of this just recently due to extreme time restrictions this year for the Video Rooms at con. Trust me, the AMV staff sends out its' deepest apologies to any and all who were interested in participating in the Overflow Event."

Yea okay so you gotta show more episodes of Harui when you could be showing people's original AMV's. >_> So now NO ONE gets to see it there. I just wanted to see people's reactions to it, even it was just in overflows!

I'll just have to enter it at Katsu and Anime next....but if it didn't make it here it has no chance at Otakon, which gets over 150 entries when Katsu gets like 75. *sigh* I'll still try tho....

On top of that my re-reg I did a month ago never went through and I only knew this because I just got my credit card bill and the charge was not on it. (They don't send out email confirmation to online registers, they put you name on an online list which was updated recently). So I'll need to be in line first thing to snag one of the remaining 1800 at the door badges.

So I'm just kinda in a sad mood right now. I hope I get a badge, I don't wanna get there and not be able to get in! >_>

So I want to buy some disposable contacts (like for seeing) to wear with my costumes so I can SEE. My vision during the day is actually pretty good with out my glasses, I can drive without them during the day. But of course at night all our vision is a little worse and the Aburame glasses replicate that effect making it less than desirable. At as con I'd like to SEE people like better...you know?

Anyone know how to obtain perspiration contacts? I have a prescription. How does one do this?? I want disposable soft lens kind. I'd be wearing them just for this not daily all the time use. I just know nothing of contacts. XD

I'm also working on doing some original watercolor paintings done to sell at Katsucon. Like at least 2-3 to put in the art auction. I hope they sell I could use the money. :3

Off to see friends in Raleigh! I'm hitching a ride down with Neko and her boyfriend. Down there I'll be hanging with Neko and Kelly, and their boys George and Mike. Cool cosplayers the lot of them! <3 I'll be flying back Jan 10 :D

Second Christmas, and stuff

My aunt was so busy around Christmas she couldn't come till now, so we just all opened up tons more presents XDD it was funny. She got me some really pretty things, like stuff from when she was in Europe or when we went to Montreal like 3 years ago. XDD *she loses stuff in her house*

Tonight I was all tired / woozy for some reason, but I somehow chucked out like 10 marker critter doodles (fully colored / lined). All designs for art plush. I was really pleased. :D Like WTF, it was so random. I just wanted to play with markers! XD

I'm also getting pumped for heading out to Raleigh NC to visit some friends <3 Kelly, Neko, and their boyfriends are awesome people. And I'm still shocked at how cheap my direct return flight ticket was - all of $68 WITH TAX. like omfg. it was less than the train! D: I'm so booking my flight out to see Duckie soon so I can take advantage of these rates. (I think I checked flights to Houston and it was like 140 or something round trip). :D YAY!

Christmastimes and fun junk

So I'm anticipating Christmas all like YAY I'm getting Wii games! I'm gonna veg and play them and pretend I'm 15 again! LOL

Looks like it'll be at least a white Christmas from the standpoint of there is snow on the ground! I hope it snows ON Christmas! :D

And on the commissions front I just sent out 6 replies to plush commission requests hopefully at at least half will actually understand what a commission costs from a quality experienced artists like me. I am still technically undercharging, srsly, there are people who charge MORE. XD Cost of living has gone up and I should be making at least $10 /hr. >_>

And I've been loving some of the random original animations on Aniboom. It really inspires me ot do more personal animations - I dunno I guess I get impatient and it's hard to see a big project all the way through.....but it's so rewarding. *shrug* Some ones I saw I liked:

When is high-def TOO HIGH?

So we just got a high def TV, like a nice 42" widescreen flat thing, like we've NEVER had a fancy TV this is crazy sause.

Anyway, we also bought an "Up-converting" DVD player that does some kind of voodoo magic and sharpens and crisps up normal DVD's to look really good on that high def TV. Cause otherwise they look kinda....not as sharp (since they are meant for normal TV's really)

So, apparently this is not necessarily a good thing, as me and my friends put in Iron Man to watch, and in the first 5 minutes Charity and Kat were already complaining "It's TOO CLEAR. The frame rate is too high it looks like a made for TV movie!!!" O___O Vanessa agreed. I didn't mind...I liked the clearness but I DID notice what they meant. It was so CLEAR the things which should be a little blurry like backgrounds or dark scenes, and special effects especially things like 3D or whatever, were really glaringly obvious, like "omg I am in a videogame"?

Like the special effects we have now were up to the point that on normal TV's or a movie screen they look juuusssttt blurry / grainy enough to blend but now with high def it hides NOTHING. So special effects gotta catch up again I see. XDD It's kinda hard to explain I guess you gotta see it.

So we put the DVD into a normal player and watched it that way in it's slightly less crip-ness. XDDD LOL

I guess we might just not be ready for so much detail. XD

PS: Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Iron Man the movie! XD And I am commenting on how our new TV and stuff make it look funny not that the movie its self is funny or bad looking. :P

Shibi looks a little different from when we last saw him like....exactly 390 chapters ago. *laugh* He should have sideburn facial hair too, apparently he shaved. (Kaho complained, lawl) Also his outfit is slightly different. Or Kishi forgot how to draw him *shrug*. Or just didn't care (prolly the latter). I better see that glasses dangle in coming panels (it's on the side we can't see).

And of course Shino is as Shino as ever and almost as tall as his 5' 11" father now. XD Awe *pats Shino*

Which is totally empty right now of course but I hope to post stuff after I get this plush commission done / sent out! I can think of lots of people who follow me on DA and stuff who'd kill to have one of my art plush (like Darcy). :P

I was inspired by a girl named Diane Koss who I met at a craft fair in Princeton. (She is www.Dkoss2.etsy.com ) She makes plush too, kinda in a similar vein as me (cute and artsy). She said through promotion and stuff her plush she makes by hand are keeping her aloft right now (she has no part time job on top). She is not RICH but is making enough to live on through craft fairs and Etsy and I wanna be able to do the same with my craft. Granted she told be she works ALL day and is getting tendonitius XD but I think If I could make a name for myself however small I could be good with a part time job and selling my stuff right now. Also I make all KINDS of things from sculpey critters to clip on ears, but I wanna push my plush, puppets and dolls as my main thing.

Commissions jobs and Pittsburg!

So I finally visited my oldest friend Christina at her new location in Pittsburgh, and got to meet her finance she is very serious about. :) She's doing pretty well and she looks so good! (lost weight, eating better, etc). Her boy is a character and was really funny, of the short time I spent with him he seems like a good guy. :)

It was a cool experience, Pittsburg is a very funky city - so many bridges and interweaving roads it looks like a future city when you drive through the highways. We saw a goth industrial concert at this lil bar/club place (kinda ClubOne like for those who know that place). The Opening band, Icentilla who I had never heard of but Christina knew was really awesome! The final (main event) band was Cruxshadows, who I DID know before, I love their music. They were SO amazing in person like omg, very cool.

Did I mention I think this was my first modern band concert thing I've EVER officially been to? XD LOL

from the video I took (as they look better than the failed photos as it was dark in there and I didn't wanna distract them with flash shots XDD)

I'd like to go back someday to see her and the city better, as I was only there for 2 days.

In the job department I keep getting bounced around my Triangle where I interviewed and they expressed interest in hiring me for the prepress photoshop-programs department. I hope they work it out soon and tell me if I have the job or not and get me started. :3 I would love to work there as it would be close, decent pay part time, and lots of other artsy people work there (IE are artists outside of being program monkeys and printer upkeepers, like myself).

If that falls through I'll just keep looking - All I want is an artsy-related job near home for now that can further my resume and make me decent money with cool people till I save up enough to go where I want for a real career in puppetry / animation / character design. :D Having a steady job would make me more active and motivated so I might actually get my commissions comepleted in a timley fashion.

Speaking of commissions, EVERYone wants them from me. XD I swear I get a “do you do plush commissions?” PM weekly on Deviantart...or people wanting art. I got 4 hat commissions just wearing my long eared hat at the last bus campout I was at (working on those now). I am just so slooowww ands unmotivated, (hence why I need a job) I CAN do these things and people WILL pay me money but waaagghhh getting them done for a procrastinator like me with no structure....*sigh* I need like set deadlines.

I am gonna start posting crafts on Etsy next chance I get. Etsy is like buy-it-now Ebay for OOAK crafters. They have low commission cost (only 3.5 of the item price when it sells and 20 cents to list an item of any price for 4 months), and nice layout and search functions. People go there to search specifically FOR OOAK handmade items so they don't balk as much at at an artists listing a piece of art they made for what it is actually worth (where on Ebay people are looking for bargains usually or retail stuff). Oh and you can also sell new-gently used craft supplies or cool vintage stuff older than 20 years. I am gonna give it a go! :D

So I am able to get back into my LJ!! :D Not that I think I'll use it much XD I seem to post all my journals on Deviantart. But I'll try! :) Yay!

But I'll post this here cause it's going on today - they are trimming the trees along the driveway so they won't touch the top powerlines. If you don't know - I live in a heavily wooded area, our driveway is long and lines with trees on the side the power lines are. They are cutting down more trees than I thought they would....the men in charge are so nice and he's an arborist and very professional, and he doesn't want to cut down them any more than we want him to. But it still sucks. :( None are very old trees, but one is a really pretty sassafras (with the mitten shaped leaved) it’s so red right now cause of fall is’ lovely. I made sure to take lots of pics We can always plant another one (we have others here and there, we have a large area of woods).

It’ll look a lil bare on that is more than we are used to, but it does leave room to plant new trees behind (where the powerlines aren’t) I took photos of all the trees we are saying goodbye to. They are gonna stack up the wood for us nice so we can harvest it to season for next winter for firewood (we heat using a woodstove in winter).

So I’m a lil distraught over that. >_> But I took more great pics of the milkweeds in the field, covered with colonies of milkweed bugs and lots of white fluffs. <333 Here are two from YESTERDAY:

I just wanted to comment on my utter science dork tasticness moment I had today when for the upteenth time I was dicussing about the ever-popular theories on what is hiding behind Aburame sunglasses and they wear them.

This was the last part of my reply:

I forgot the second half of my theory - after their eyes get accidentally destroyed (which is because the weave of chakra through the eyes is so intricate the kikaichu have a hard time telling chakra circulatory system from actual EYE tissue. XD ) The kikaichu that then live in the back of their eyes can connect to their optic nerves, transmitting what they see, so they then see through the kikaichu’s eyes. So yea, they can still see.

However kiakichu don’t have multifaceted eyes like most insects, they evolved to have one large facet, like a camera lens, an extreme on the “composite lens arrangement” that a few insects are known to have. This type has more photoreceptors, which equal more light, and higher resolution, which are good on smaller insects with less room on their heads for eyes (compound eyes don’t allow for a lot of photoreceptors)

AKA "primitive" eye technically insect wise, but more close to that of mammal eyes. So they really see not much different than before, just with the addition of like UV and infrared kinda stuff.
